Why do girls think cheerleading is a sport?

the only argument FOR cheerleading in regards to it being considered a sport would be the fact that many of the movies in competitive cheerleading (not that high school "go team go" crap) are closely related to moves you would see in gymnastics. so some would argue that if gymnastics is a sport so is competitive cheerleading. however i consider that comparison to be a stretch, probably one made up by the very supportive cheer community that what there little sally sue to think shes an athlete because she can do a cart wheel.
