Do you seriously think Gordon Brown is the first prime minister to come to power without a general election? What about Major? Callaghan? We voted for the government; not the prime minister. This is not America. Europe is a separate issue and cannot be discussed seriously in this country as we are kept in ignorance by a hostile press. As for allying ourselves to America, I for one would take up arms against that one.
